Bird watching

January 14, 2020 0 Comments public-news
Iran is home to more than 527 species of birds and well over over 300 species are known to breed. Infact although large portions of the country are arid to semi-arid, Iran possesses a very rich and diverse bird fauna. Iran lies in the Palearctic faunal region, with the country straddling the divide between the Western and Eastern Palearctic sub-regions. Iran’s avifauna includes about 80 species of strictly Western Palearctic distribution which reach their southeastern limits in the Elburz and Zagros Mountains, while only a much smaller group of strictly Eastern Palearctic species extends into the northeastern highlands. Iran’s position as an ornithological crossroads is also evident in the diversity of migrants.

What is Bird Watching?

Bird watching is a recreation that the first step to reach that is love to nature. Bird watching is one of those leisure activities that requires Quiet and silent. Many psychologists recommend looking at birds in nature. Because it’s very relaxing. Bird watching is different from Ornithology. Ornithology is a professional specialty. The study of birds, their biology and habits, habitats and evolution and a multitude of other aspects of birds, has a long tradition within the discipline of zoology. There are no degrees in ornithology and most come to the study of birds through a BS/BSc in zoology. Most research-based jobs require at least a Masters level qualification (MS / MSc) and with increasing specialism, a Doctorate. Many people take up ornithology as a hobby, especially tracking migrations and noting population changes throughout the seasons. Bird watching is a keen pastime in the UK for example, and many people in the amateur community carry out vital work in the scientific study of birds – conservation charities are reliant on keen “twitchers”. Charities such as the RSPB, for example, encourage the active participation of bird study and conservation.
